with the freedom to develop and pursue your own research program within a broad scope. As a successful candidate, you will become an integral part of the Multiscale Cloud Physics Group currently being established by Franziska Glassmeier at the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology.
We are looking for a curiosity-driven and conceptually-minded candidate who enjoys scientific discussion and interdisciplinary science.
To be considered for this position, you must have a PhD in a field like physics and applied mathematics or a field related to one of the components of the climate system. As a suitable candidate you have expertise in analyzing complex systems (e.g., using dynamical systems theory, statistical physics) and/or process-level expertise in a specific component of the climate system. You should also have experience in presenting your results to the scientific community at international conferences and through peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
As a successful candidate, we will expect you to independently design, conduct and present an innovative research project.
